People are constantly trying to argue with me that dance ISN'T a sport. Nothing in the world makes me more annoyed then when people say its not! Try watching this and THEN tell me its not hard, that it doesn't take practice, and isn't athletic. Riccardo and Yulia are world champions in latin style ballroom dance, and she has been one of my idols since I was 14 years old! However, is watching a dance performance considered media?? Obviously the music the dancers dance to is considered media... but is the actual performance considered media? If movies are considered media, are live performances also considered media?? I'm not sure! I would totally consider it entertainment (and a sport)... just throwing that in there! lol. What do you guys think!?

Oh my gosh yes!! Thank you! I have been dancing since I was four and people who think it is not a sport drive me crazy. You try spending seven+ hours every day in a studio pushing your body nonstop and trying to learn new tricks and moves! lol They clearly don't understand what an athlete is. But I definitely think it uses media with music and even in the way we share it on YouTube or shows like So You Think You Can Dance:)
ReplyDeleteI definitely agree with everything above^! I think that people underestimate how difficult dancing is because the better you are, the more effortless everything looks and people don't always see all of the skill and hard work involved!
ReplyDeleteI definitely agree that dancing is a sport! I danced, I sucked at it, haha but I did and I know it is hard and it takes concentration, strength, endurance, etc. etc. Which I think all of those characteristics qualify for being a "sport"
ReplyDeleteI LOVE dance! I have taken several dance classes in the past and it is SO a sport! I get as good of a workout dancing then I do when I go to the gym. Seriously. It is not easy.
